Job Summary

Regent University’s School of Education is seeking an Assistant Professor for the Special Education program. This is a full-time, instructional, 12-month, tenure-track position at Regent University’s main campus in Virginia Beach, VA.

The ideal candidate should have the ability to assess student performance and collaborate with faculty to evaluate the effectiveness of the Special Education program. The candidate must engage in university, professional, and program service, including participation in continuous program improvement and new program development. They will be responsible for reporting data on the program as well as serving on the School of Education’s accreditation team. Faculty are expected to conduct research and publish in professional journals according to a research agenda and the school’s tenure requirements. In addition, the candidate must participate in marketing, recruiting, public relations events, professional development, program service, and new program development. The candidate must possess the ability to assess student performance and collaborate with faculty to evaluate the effectiveness of the Special Education program.

An earned Doctoral degree in Educational leadership or related field is required. Experience with online teaching technology platforms (e.g. Blackboard Ultra) and working with diverse student populations is preferred. The Assistant Professor will be expected to teach assigned courses at the master’s and postmaster levels as well as serve on doctoral, departmental, school, and university committees. The candidate must maintain membership in an appropriate regional, state, and/or national organization related to their teaching. They must also possess the ability and advanced knowledge of research and assessment methodology, curriculum development, and assessment design.

The ideal candidate must share the vision and mission of Regent University and the School of Education. They must have a heart for the personal, spiritual, and professional development of students and faculty and the ability to provide service in a professional manner. The candidate should have strong organization, multi-tasking, and communication skills both written and orally.

Expectations: 1) a dedication to Christ-centered teaching and learning; 2) a record of or potential for academic scholarship; 3) the ability to teach undergraduate-level courses; and 4) a willingness to embrace the College and University Identity and Mission statements and subscribe to a statement of Christian faith.
