Full Job Description
The School of Social Work at the University of Memphis invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin August 2021. This 9-month faculty appointment offers a competitive salary and full benefits. Responsibilities will include teaching, research, scholarly activities, advising, and service.

Applicants must have an MSW and an earned doctoral degree in social work or a related field. The department prefers applicants with a minimum of two years post-MSW practice experience and a strong publication record. ABD’s who will have their degree by May 2021 and meet the position qualifications will be considered. Applicants should be experienced teachers. We are especially interested in applicants who have expertise in management theory and practice and can teach in the proposed DSW program. Applicants may also be expected to teach in the BA or MSW program.
Minimum Position Qualifications
- PhD in social work or a closely related field
- MSW from a CSWE-accredited program
- Experience teaching in higher education
- Ability to teach in at least two social work content areas
- Two years post-MSW practice experience
- A strong record of scholarly publications
- Ability to secure external funding
- Expertise in management theory, management practice, and/or quantitative research methods
