About Curtin’s Library team:
The Library provides an array of valuable services and programs to support the University’s research and the development of students as independent learners and researchers. Curtin’s Kalgoorlie Campus Library supports the learning and research needs of staff and student cohorts across the growing range of disciplines covered at the Kalgoorlie campus.

About the role:
This position manages the day-to-day operational requirements of the Curtin Connect and Library services in liaison with Perth based staff from these respective functional groups and is responsible for leading cross area coordination to ensure plans are in place to adapt the operating model as required.

You will manage and supervise the local staff responsible for delivering these services as well as being responsible for the coordination of the space, technology, and resources in the Kalgoorlie Campus Library, working under the broad direction of the Library Manager of Client Engagement, applying their knowledge and expertise to achieve outcomes in a range of library strategic and operational areas.

In this role you will:
Ensure Library enquiry, reference and circulation services are meeting the needs of clients and report to the Manager, Client Engagement with recommendations for service improvement, and implement approved changes.

Lead the Curtin Connect and Library team members to ensure they make effective use of available information systems and technology and assist team members to troubleshoot issues with systems. This includes liaising with internal and external colleagues such as the Library Infrastructure team and technology vendors.

Build the Library public areas and ensure facilities are safe and conducive to a positive client experience.

Roster the team to fullfill the needs of the academic community.

Coordinate the use of specialist systems and governance procedures related to Library enquiries, FAQs and customer relationship management. Ensure accurate reporting is compiled and used for continuous improvement of services.

Provide leadership, guidance and management to Library staff including Library Student Assistants, including effective recruitment processes, local induction, staff engagement, allocation of work priorities, performance reviews and development.

Contribute to the development and review of relevant policies and procedures.

Work with identified partners and groups to improve Library services and Curtin Connect services (in consultation with Perth campus).

We are looking for someone with:
A degree qualification and extensive relevant experience.

Leadership skills with the ability to supervise staff and coordinate tasks across several teams.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a range of formats with a diverse range of people.

Ability to plan and organise self and others to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Numeracy, ability to work accurately and with attention to detail.

Computer skills, especially with applications such as Library Management Systems, and productivity software.

Ability to apply innovative approaches to problem solving.

Ability to create and maintain effective customer focused and efficient team culture.

Experience in an academic Library environment (desirable).
