About us:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to join the senior team in our Library, Careers and Inclusivity department at UWE Bristol as Deputy Director with responsibility for our vibrant Careers and Enterprise provision. You will have the opportunity to further develop your leadership skills and shape the delivery of our Careers and Enterprise activity in a future-focused university that is committed to providing an outstanding educational experience for all our students.

Our work in Library, Careers and Inclusivity is all about enabling all of our students to succeed and fulfil their potential during their time with us. We make an impact on key priorities for the University including student recruitment and retention; academic success; student satisfaction and graduate destination outcomes. As a member of the senior team in the department you will be actively involved in decision making that affects the student experience, strategic programme development, and curriculum development.

You will lead the Careers and Enterprise team to the forefront of contributing to a transformational learning experience and in providing outstanding resources and services. You will play a key role in ensuring that the learning experience we provide at UWE Bristol is inclusive and nurtures the development of practice-oriented skills, enabling and supporting great outcomes for all of our students.

About you:
You are an experienced leader of careers and enterprise provision in an educational setting with a track record of leading teams to provide high quality, agile, customer-focused services.

You combine advanced expertise, knowledge and understanding of best practice in the design and delivery of effective careers and enterprise activity within the curriculum and throughout the student journey.

Creative and innovative you will be able to demonstrate a commitment to promoting innovation and continuous improvement of services. Energetic and resilient, you enjoy working at pace and are comfortable with complexity and uncertainty.

You will possess the leadership skills to motivate, inspire and empower diverse teams, driving up engagement, capability, and performance to enable us to achieve our ambitions.

You have excellent communication and influencing skills and establish credibility with the people that you work with, both internally and with external partners and employers. You will have a proven track record of working effectively in collaboration and be confident in developing effective partnerships that build our reputation at UWE Bristol as a great source of student and graduate talent.

You are passionate about higher education and inspire your teams individually and collectively to be ambitious and deliver the best possible provision for those that we work with, students, staff and external partners.

This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed – £300m has been invested recently on new state-of-the-art learning spaces and accommodation while we continue to develop incredible new facilities to enhance our offer even further.

Frenchay campus has excellent transport links; as well as being located near the motorway network we are within walking distance of two train stations, our bus terminus connects us to the local bus and metrobus network and we also have a range of cycling and changing facilities.

This is a full-time, permanent post.

First interviews will be held via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday 20th Oct, with the final round on Friday 12th November.

This post is available on a job share basis for applicants wishing to work part time.

The University will be implementing a hybrid way of working once restrictions from Covid 19 end therefore you will be expected to work on campus for part of your working week. Exact days will be agreed with your line manager.

The University’s normal practice is that new appointments will be made at the starting point of the grade.
