The Australian Industry Trade College (AITC) warmly invites applications for the position of Deputy Head of Industry Education (Central), to lead our new Brisbane region forward educating the future leaders of industry.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled, relational and experienced leader who will:

provide high-level educational leadership to meet the AITC’s objectives and outcomes

seamlessly blend senior education and industry readiness

possess a passion for designing and delivering senior secondary learning experiences with an unwavering industry-led agenda

The AITC is a school unapologetically “by industry for industry”, where Year 10, 11 and 12 students complete their senior secondary education whilst pursuing and commencing a career within industry. The young person’s search for a suitable apprenticeship or traineeship is facilitated by the team at the AITC, with a range of employees whose role it is to coach and mentor young people to develop key employability skills and refine character to meet the needs of industry.

The Deputy Head of Industry Education (Central) reports to the Head of Industry Education and is responsible for providing high-level educational leadership to meet the AITC’s objectives and outcomes.

The Deputy Head of Industry Education (Central) will remain up-to-date with pedagogical theories and developments in industry-led senior secondary education and possess a passion for designing and delivering senior secondary learning experiences with an unwavering industry-led agenda. They will gain a deep understanding of the environment, industry and communities in which their assigned campuses operate and leverage these for their region’s ongoing success.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate the following essential and desirable knowledge and skills.

Essential

QCT Registration (or willingness to gain)

High level education leadership and financial acumen with demonstrated understanding of business process development and continuous improvement methodologies

Passion to lead an innovative industry-led senior secondary educational program

Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external) and work collaboratively

Highly developed communication skills, both written and oral

Ability to work under pressure, in a fast-paced environment, and respond to and resolve issues effectively

Ability to demonstrate and champion the AITC values

Right to work in Australia

Desirable

Independent Schooling leadership experience

Understanding of the AASN Program, School-Based Apprenticeships and VET sector including current trends and change factors impacting the education and apprenticeship sector

Master of Education (or equivalent)

Tertiary qualifications in management, business or a related field
