The Education Program Lead is a key leadership role in the eSIM Provincial Simulation Program. The Education Program Lead is a leading expert in the field of simulation-based education, curriculum design and evaluation, team-based training, inter-professional education, and simulation program / faculty development. The position is instrumental in helping the eSIM program achieve its strategic goals, which includes supporting front line simulation, completing projects, simulation faculty development and research and innovation.
The Education Program Lead works with the provincial eSIM team, AHS simulation champions and stakeholders to design, develop, evaluate and improve a robust provincial simulation curriculum. They lead the implementation, design, operations and evaluation of a multi-faceted professional practice and simulation faculty development strategy, including e-learning, webinars, expert speakers, grand rounds, conferences, facilitated learning courses, mentorship, and building a community of practice to maintain quality simulation facilitation and delivery across the province. They are responsible for compliance with accreditation standards and leads the design and implementation of a system to manage simulation education credits. The Education Program Lead develops and maintains standardized template(s), develops curricula training / communication /marketing packages, and facilitates sharing of curriculum information. They mentor and teach partners, leaders, and eSIM team members in simulation based education design, delivery and evaluation that is consistent with established best practice standards. This position works with the eSIM Research Lead, Simulation Operations Leads, and Education Coordinator(s) to ensure best practice standards for simulation program development and data analysis is built in to curricula design. The Education Program Lead collaborates with partners, stakeholders and eSIM team members on large and complex initiatives that have zone/provincial scope including simulation and education related strategic plans. They will chair the eSIM Education Committee and will be a team representative on other provincial and partner advisory and steering committees. The Education Program Lead is expected to present locally, nationally, and internationally on leading simulation education practices, projects and outcomes from the eSIM Provincial Simulation Program.

Education: A bachelor’s degree in a health sciences discipline. Training: Some formal training in simulation education. Some training in the design and delivery of adult education. Experience: At least eight (8) years clinical experience. Minimum of five (5) years of experience with simulation education. Some experience with clinical orientation, education, courses and/or re-certifications (experience in non-clinical adult education may be considered as equivalent). Some progressive, strategic, and innovative leadership experience. Competencies: Knowledge of principles/theories of adult education. A team player with strong communication, relational, coaching, and organizational/program evaluation skills. Computer literate with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong team building, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills and abilities. Client or customer management skills.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Must be willing to travel throughout the province as needed. Should be comfortable presenting and speaking to large and diverse audiences.
Education: Graduate degree in a health sciences discipline/adult education/medical education. Training: Certification in simulation training/education (i.e., CHSE). Experience: Experience with scholarship/publications related to education or simulation. Curriculum development, implementation and evaluation experience. Competencies: Understanding of simulation challenges (clinical, operational, technological), education modalities, clinical applications, change management, and project management.
