Engagement Officer, Faculty of Engineering, Academic Division Job in Brisbane QLD at Queensland University of Technology –

The Engagement Officer provides project,

systems and administrative support to the

Faculty of Engineering engagement team

relating to industry and student engagement

activities. This includes support for functions

such as high school engagement, student

clubs/leadership activities, industry partnership

development, corporate education, alumni

relationship management and philanthropy

operations.

The position also provides a point of contact

for external and internal client enquiries.

The position will work closely with the Industry

and Student Engagement Coordinators to

provide advice and support to a diversity of

stakeholders to ensure the Faculty’s programs

of engagement activities are appropriately and

successfully implemented.

The position will support the Industry

Engagement Coordinator and will assist in

providing advice to diverse stakeholders to

ensure the Faculty’s programs of engagement

activities are appropriately and successfully

coordinated, implemented and improved.

These activities will engage with various

industry, government and not for profit partners

and internal stakeholders including students,

academics and related Faculty/Divisional

support functions.

This position reports to the Industry

Engagement Coordinator for supervision,

workload management and for Performance

Planning and Review (PPR).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide support to stakeholders including

acting as a point of contact and

coordinating timely response to enquiries.

  • Plan and deliver identified operational

activities, such as student clubs/leadership

support; engagement event planning and

coordination; scholarship implementation

and communication – with guidance from

other team members.

  • Undertake administrative, financial and

logistical elements (including overseeing

external suppliers) of industry and student

engagement functions

  • Access, interpret and apply

University/Faculty systems, policies and

processes to maximise outcomes, ensure

compliance, manage risk and promote

efficiency.

  • Provide administrative support on a range

of systems and databases that support

engagement functions.

  • Support the continuous improvement of

engagement activities by proactively

reviewing work processes and liaising with

staff to implement improvements.

  • Promote a positive and supportive team

environment by developing effective

communication strategies that foster and

encourage information sharing.

  • Develop and maintain effective working

relationships with Faculty and other

relevant internal and external stakeholders.

  • Provide backup support to cover staff on

leave and during times of peak workload.

  • Compliance with health and safety policies,

procedures, hazard reporting and safe work

practices.

To ensure job flexibility the successful

appointee may be required to:

  • perform any other duties as nominated by

the University consistent with the relevant

classification descriptors detailed in the

Enterprise Agreement. Staff undertaking

any new duties will receive training;

  • participate in job rotation or multiskilling in

consultation with their supervisor;

Type of appointment

This appointment will be offered on a fixed-

term, full-time basis until 30 June 2022.

Selection criteria

1. Education, training and/or relevant

experience equivalent to the completion of

a degree.

2. Proven interpersonal and communication

skills, including to represent the

organisation to external clients as well as

to communicate effectively with people

from diverse backgrounds

3. Demonstrated written communication skills

including the ability to draft a range of

written correspondence and reports.

4. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage

time and resources to deliver exceptional

results including the ability to prioritise

tasks and work under pressure to meet

deadlines, whilst maintaining a high-level

of service within a busy customer oriented

environment.

5. Ability to analyse, problem-solve and use

initiative whilst embracing and participating

in a changing environment.

6. Demonstrated experience in the use of

information technology such as the

Microsoft Office suite, and internet

technology, as well as the ability to quickly

learn and effectively use a range of

corporate databases/systems.

Remuneration and Benefits

The classification for this position is Higher

Education Worker Level 5 (HEW5) which has

an annual remuneration range of $79, 654 to

$89, 842 pa. Which is inclusive of an annual

salary range of $67,883 to $76,566 pa and

17% superannuation.

In July 2020 QUT staff voted in favour of a

variation to its Enterprise Agreements. The

variations were approved by the Fair Work

Commission in August 2020.

The variation impacts leave loading (for new

staff no loading will be paid or accrued during

the period the variation is in effect), salary

increases (the salary increase which was due

to occur in the first full pay period of December

2020 has been deferred until the first full pay

period of December 2021) and superannuation

(superannuation will be paid to staff as though

the salary increase which would have been

paid in December 2020 has taken effect and,

subject to the rules of the superannuation fund,

a defined benefit member will continue to make

contributions in alignment with the contributions
