Job description

Enabling our students to succeed and secure graduate employability beyond their degree is a major priority at the University of Winchester and this post will feature at the heart of these developments working with the faculty of Education. Based in the Careers Service, this post will provide information, advice and guidance to current students and recent graduates to enable them to develop their career management skills and make informed career choices, assisting them with the transition to graduate employment or further study.

The role is part of the central Careers Service however the focus is to enhance the employability support to the courses within the Faculty of Education, which includes primary education, PGCE courses, Education Studies and Childhood Studies. You will work with them to agree the design and deliver of a bespoke programme of careers support for faculty students, using face-to-face, virtual and blended learning methods. You will work in partnership with the other Careers Professionals, the related academic course teams and the Faculty Dean to engage staff in strategic discussions regarding the employability of their students.

The successful candidate will also be the team’s lead for updated knowledge of teacher training education, entry, and requirements, ensuring timely delivery of a range of workshops or events on “Getting into teaching.” You will take part in the central Careers & Opportunities Hub employability activities, giving virtual and face-to-face guidance and running workshops and be involved in a range of other projects to support the service..

We are seeking applications from experienced Careers Advisors for this post. If the successful applicant does not hold a professional qualification in careers guidance or related area (e.g. DCG, QCG Careers Advice and Guidance or equivalent), the successful applicant will be required to complete a staff development qualification (funded by the employer) in the first year of employment.
