The Division of Endocrinology, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, in conjunction with the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, is seeking a full-time Academic Endocrinologist fulfilling the academic position description of Clinician in Quality & Innovation (CQI) or Clinician Teacher (CT). The candidate must be eligible for an appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. Expected start date is January 1, 2022 or another mutually agreeable date.
We are seeking a physician who will deliver and foster excellence in clinical care in all areas of endocrinology. The candidate will also provide exceptional teaching in the undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs of the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will devote 60 to 75% of their time to clinical care, and will participate in inpatient management with up to 12 weeks on-call per year.
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree; have or be eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Endocrinology; and have or be eligible for licensure to practice medicine from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate will have a proven academic record of excellence in any of education, quality improvement or clinical research. Advanced training and a demonstrated achievement in teaching and education is the minimum requirement for the CT job description. Teaching accomplishments include the presence of a strong track record of excellence in student and resident education, awards, leadership as a clinical educator, and other relevant experience. Advanced training in quality or innovation with evidence of scholarship is the minimum requirement for the CQI job description. Excellence in research, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, presentations at major conferences and awards, will also be considered.
Candidates on an academic track can be appointed as a Lecturer and will progress to the rank of Assistant Professor.
Estimated remuneration will be in the range of $150,000 to 300,000 per year (fee for service estimate). The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered. The successful candidate will be able to participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
