The Nurse Technician position is a role for nursing students, designed to increasetheir clinical skills, judgment and critical thinking whileenrolled ina nursing program. One to one mentor relationships with a registered nurse will help build confidence in the science and art of nursing.
Nursing students working as Nurse Technicians will be able to connect with Virginia Mason Medical Center, a premier healthcare organization, to assess feasibility of employment post-graduation and will have an opportunity to work alongside members of the healthcare team and move into a Registered Nurse position after graduation.
The Nurse Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of an RN, assists patients with activities of daily living, changes dressings, performs urinary catheterization and other treatments and procedures in accordance with formal training received through their nursing degree program.

We are currently also hiring for our summer Nursing Technician Program.The Summer Nursing Technician Program is a special program for nursing students attending a school outside the Puget Sound area.This 8-week, full-time program is designed to increasestudents clinical skills, judgment and critical thinking. One to one mentor relationships with a registered nurse will help build confidence in the science and art of nursing.
Housing is not provided for this experience. Previous attendees have located convenient, near-by short-term rental housing through short-term/vacation rental companies.
Current enrollment in a Registered Nurse Bachelor of Science Degree Program
Completion of a clinical component required
Licensure as a Nursing Technician-Registered by the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) required before beginning employment
