We are looking for a highly motivated Site Reliability Engineer (Co-op) to join our SRE team in Toronto. The Site Reliability Engineering team is an exciting new team focused on leveraging the newest technologies and approaches to deliver solutions & systems for the modern-day end user. The areas of responsibility include Production Application Support and Operational Technology Support. In this role, you will focus on ensuring and enabling the reliability and sustainability of operations and business applications by optimizing, monitoring, and automating deployment, support, and sustainment activities. Site Reliability Engineer (Co-op)

We are looking for a highly motivated Site Reliability Engineer (Co-op) to join our SRE team in Toronto. The Site Reliability Engineering team is an exciting new team focused on leveraging the newest technologies and approaches to deliver solutions & systems for the modern-day end user. Our primary focus and commitment is to provide real value and we encourage innovation and empower open-thinking for all our team members. The areas of responsibility include Production Application Support and Operational Technology Support. In this role, you will focus on ensuring and enabling the reliability and sustainability of operations and business applications by optimizing, monitoring, and automating deployment, support, and sustainment activities.   • This position is for Winter 2021, with a 4-month term

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
Perform daily health checks, alarm monitoring, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting of the network infrastructure

Maintain accurate detailed diagrams, hardware/software inventory, and operational documentation for network services

Research, develop, and implement IT standards, best practices, and operational procedures

Partner and collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and network service providers

Participate in on-call activities and be available as required to support network services globally

Participate in infrastructure projects and perform tasks as assigned

Document test cases and perform comprehensive testing during implementation and upgrades

Identifying and solving problems and exploring different design solutions

Consuming and understanding business, functional and technical requirements

Participating in solution evaluation and developing Proof of Concepts

Collaborating with other team members to interactively design and develop new applications and features

Working with technology platforms such as GCP, React, Node.js and Java Spring Boot

Developing technical documents to accurately represent the design and code

Participating in design review sessions with project teams

Applying industry standard, object-oriented programming best practices

Participating in regularly scheduled status and Agile meetings with the project team

Gathering and refining specifications and requirements based on technical needs

Custom web and mobile application development, cross-application development, and application interface design

Application support, maintenance, integration, data standardization procedures & administration processes

Requirements analysis, planning and application/development documentation

End-user support of existing applications

To succeed in this role, you have:
Enrolled in a University or College program in the field of Computer Science, Software Engineering or Mathematics preferred; other University programs in information technology disciplines will be considered

A strong commitment to collaborative problem-solving

Demonstrated experience with requirements gathering and business analysis

Continuous Integration, Delivery, and Deployment knowledge

Self-motivated, able to manage time, and work with minimal supervision

Superior troubleshooting and performance management skills

Experience in project planning and coordination

Experience with workflow analysis and design

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Embrace collaborative sharing of knowledge within a team environment
