Technology Aspect

Position Overview

Stellar Virtual is seeking a compassionate and dedicated At-Risk Specialist to join our Special Education team in Arizona. As an At-Risk Specialist, you will play a crucial role in identifying and supporting students who face academic, social, or emotional challenges in a virtual learning environment. You will work closely with students, families, teachers, and administrators to provide interventions and resources that help students overcome barriers to success.

Essential Position Functions

  • Collaborate with the Special Education team to identify at-risk students and assess their needs.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students' academic, social, and emotional strengths and challenges.
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans (ISPs) for at-risk students.
  • Provide counseling, guidance, and resources to address student challenges.
  • Assist students in setting and achieving academic and behavioral goals.
  • Work with teachers to adapt and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of at-risk students.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, teachers, and support staff to coordinate interventions.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust support strategies as needed.
  • Offer crisis intervention and referrals for students in immediate need of assistance.
  • Facilitate workshops and seminars on topics such as study skills, time management, and social-emotional development.
  • Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to connect students with additional support services.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records and progress reports.
  • Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings and contribute to the development of IEPs for at-risk students.
  • Stay informed about best practices in special education and at-risk student support.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Previous experience in special education, counseling, or working with at-risk students.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for internal and external communication.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Empathy and a commitment to providing a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Ability to adapt support strategies to a virtual learning environment.
  • Dedication to helping at-risk students achieve academic and personal success.

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
